  • Sustainability and environmental sustainability, more than a commitment, the heart of our mission

Decarbonization, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the pursuit of sustainable development objectives appear in the statutes of Syntezia Sàrl and are at the heart of our vision , our mission and our objectives .

This translates in particular into very concrete action plans on our mobility and our approach to responsible digital technology .

    Our business trips.

We wish to inform and raise awareness among all our stakeholders about the environmental impact of air travel and global emissions due to aviation (3% of CO2 emitted in Europe according to the European Commission ) and emissions due to aviation in Switzerland (10% of CO2 emitted in Switzerland according to the FOEN ).

We ensure that we are informed and kept up to date on the means available to reduce or replace air travel with less polluting means of transport such as the train.

For Syntezia sàrl employees, we would like an action plan and incentive and restrictive measures to be put in place.

    Incentive actions:

Develop and raise awareness among all employees of the
    video-conferencing and group communication tools.

Modernize and extend our access to a range of video conference rooms of different
capabilities by choosing technologies compatible with installations
equivalent among our partners, customers or suppliers.

Authorize video-conferencing during any process of consultation, expertise, partner search or
    decision making.

Video conferencing is considered at Syntezia Sàrl as a valid presence
during management sessions, juries or advisory board meetings for example.

Encourage employees to prefer direct flights (less polluting) and not to
take long trips for a short stay.

Reduce the size of delegations to its minimum for representative trips.

Recognize the efforts of people who have significantly reduced
their emissions through an internal valuation process.

    Limiting actions:

Without justification, the use of the aircraft is not authorized to attend
conferences without active participation (board, presentation, chair session, invitation,
    to post).

Without justification, the use of the aircraft is not authorized for destinations
accessible by train from Geneva in 4 hours or less.

    Protection from the sun

Syntezia Sàrl recognizes the importance of soil protection and is a signatory of the Mission Soil Manifesto to confirm its commitment.

Life on Earth depends on healthy soils. The soil is the living skin of our planet. Healthy soils are essential

for the provision of food as well as clean water, pure air, a safe climate and biodiverse landscapes. Globally, soils store approximately 80% of the carbon in terrestrial ecosystems, making them the largest terrestrial carbon sink. earthly. Soils are fragile and the impact of our actions on the soil is often neglected or ignored.

To ensure a healthy and green future for our current and future generations, we must protect and care for the soil.

Measures taken to protect soils from degradation are not sufficient: around 60% of EU soils are currently considered to be in an unhealthy state.

More than a quarter of European agricultural soils are eroded, compacted, salinized, and suffer from salinization/alkalization and over-fertilization, or lose carbon.

Additionally, soil pollution is a major concern in urban and industrial areas.

    Increase in extreme weather events

with floods and droughts due to climate change further exacerbating land degradation. Therefore, protecting and regenerating soil health becomes even more urgent.

    Responsible Digital

Syntezia Sàrl recognizes the importance of responsible digital technology.

Its managing partner is co-founder of ISIT Switzerland (Institute for Sustainable IT) , and Syntezia Sàrl is one of the signatories of the ISITresponsible digital charter .

We have also created several responsible digital frescoes.

Among the concrete measures that we have decided to take to promote responsible digital technology, here are some examples:

    1. Reduce the environmental footprint: Syntezia Sàrl implements practices aimed at reducing its energy consumption, in particular by optimizing the use of servers, adopting more energy-efficient technologies and encouraging virtualization and cloud computing.
    2. Responsible data management: Syntezia Sàrl has clear and transparent confidentiality and data protection policies in place. It can also limit the excessive collection and storage of personal data and ensure its appropriate security.
    3. Promote digital inclusion: Syntezia Sàrl is committed to making its services accessible to as many people as possible, using the principles of universal design, and ensuring that its products and services can be used by people with disabilities or those with disabilities. limited digital skills.
    4. Promote the ethics of algorithms: Syntezia Sàrl ensures that its algorithms and artificial intelligence systems are fair, transparent and non-discriminatory. This involves monitoring potential biases, carrying out regular audits and ensuring redress mechanisms in the event of errors or injustices.
    5. Awareness and training: Syntezia Sàrl organizes awareness and training sessions for its employees to promote responsible use of digital technologies. This may include training on data security, privacy, information management, artificial intelligence and professional ethics.
    6. Collaboration with responsible partners: Syntezia Sàrl reserves the right to choose to work with suppliers and partners who share its values in terms of responsible digital technology. This may include specific criteria in tenders and contractual clauses to encourage responsible practices. We collaborate in particular with Infomaniak , recognized for these achievements in terms of Green Datacenter.
    7. Transparency: Syntezia Sàrl wishes to communicate transparently on its responsible digital practices. This combination of concrete measures makes it possible to empower all the company's stakeholders, customers, partners, collaborators and suppliers and to show its commitment to digital sustainability.
    8. Data minimization: we are participating in World Clean Up Day to reduce our digital footprint.

  • Our responsible purchasing policy

We strive to make the right choices with each of our purchases, particularly for our responsible digital purchases.

By taking into account the lifespan and repairability of our IT equipment

Typically, for the acquisition of our PCs, we work with ASUS products after having become aware of their CSR approach and for the following reasons: Legal Compliance | Green Products | Circular Economy | ASUS ESG website, ASUS ESG goal

We follow the following labels to make our decisions:

Energy star ( Energy Star takes into account energy consumption during the use phase of the equipment).

EPEAT Silver or Gold ( This label aims to guarantee that products have reduced environmental impacts throughout their life cycle (reduction in consumption during use, use of recycled plastic materials, reparability, limited dangerous substances).

The label offers 3 levels of requirements: bronze, silver and gold.)

The EPEAT label covers the most important environmental issues.

This label covers all key stages of the life cycle (raw materials, manufacturing and use).

The following criteria constitute the significant criteria of the label:

    energy consumption is limited when recharging the device thanks to a maximum level of battery energy consumption and a minimum level of electrical efficiency;

    the integration of a minimum rate of recycled or biosourced plastics to be indicated;

    actions are required to promote recycling (marking of the composition of plastic parts, ease of dismantling, end-of-life device take-back program);

    certain dangerous substances are prohibited (heavy metals) and others are limited (nickel on metal coatings likely to be touched by the finger must not release more than 0.5 µg/m², halogenated substances and phthalates must not exceed 0.1%);

the extension of the lifespan is taken into account through the following obligations:

    easy battery removal,

    easy data erasure,

availability of information on repairs and reconditioning,

spare parts available 3 years after production stops.

The label has 3 levels of requirements allowing a process of continuous improvement.

A search for volume optimization of the packaging (volume of the telephone and user guide/volume of the packaging < 0.3)

An environmental assessment of the product over its life cycle (life cycle analysis) is requested.

The label also includes transparency and traceability obligations in the supply chain, particularly regarding minerals.

Energy star 8.0 (for energy efficiency)

The European RoHS Directive ( Restriction of Hazardous Substances ) which aims to limit the use of ten dangerous substances in electrical and electronic equipment

  • We calculate our CO2 emissions as accurately as possible

Emails (with or without attachment), Streaming (hours), videoconferencing (hours spent on Zoom, MS Teams, K-Meet or Google Meet), Wifi, 5G... we analyze the impact of our digital uses regularly.

  • Let's understand our impact

Our digital uses are not neutral. Discovering them is the first step to optimizing them.

  • Syntezia Sàrl is committed to food

Food accounts for around a third of global greenhouse gas emissions and can put significant pressure on the planet's water and land resources. If agriculture
contributes, through the emissions that the sector generates, to global warming,
it is also one of the main victims: droughts and loss
of biodiversity are all threats to food security, and
will be more so by 2050, when 9.7 billion people will live together
    of individuals on Earth.

    Our food commitments:

We follow the recommendations of the IPCC and WWF in this area.

“Meat, and in particular ruminant meat (beef and lamb), is the food with the greatest effect on the environment ,” note the United Nations experts.

    1

    Less red meat

    • At least 4 days without ruminant meat per week to vegetate our plate , allows us to
reduce your carbon footprint without reducing the nutritional quality of
      his diet.
    2

    Instead, we favor these alternatives

As an alternative to meat products, eat more legumes and cereals .

Combined, they provide all the proteins and amino acids our body needs.

    3

We remain epicureans and seek to eat better and drink good, healthy, seasonal and local food!

We favor official signs of quality and origin : The AB (Organic Agriculture) label.

  • Our food

and why we favor seasonal fruits and vegetables.

  • Every meal is a micro-decision

Our meals allow us to become aware of our impact on a daily basis

  • background image
  • Our mobility

    Everyday and exceptional

    Public transport

On a daily basis, for local travel in Geneva and French-speaking Switzerland, we use public transport, bus, tramway, train ( TPG , Swiss Pass, SBB ) and walking as the main means of travel between our different appointments.

    Individual vehicle

To access public transport, we mainly use hybrid urban SUV and StickAir 1 type vehicles.

    Active mobility

When we have the opportunity (when the weather permits and the distance permits), we are fans of active walking, scooters, bikes and "walks and talks" in parks!!!

    Exceptional travel

During our exceptional trips outside the canton of Geneva, we favor the train and we avoid the plane for all journeys in Switzerland, and for all journeys in neighboring Europe accessible by train (France, Italy, Germany, Liechtenstein, etc.). .), in order to limit our use of the plane as much as possible for journeys of less than 4 hours.

  • Transportation and teleworking

We encourage teleworking and minimize our travel distances as much as possible

  • Distance et impact

Travel and transport: to make the right choices.
